American Society for Microbiology

Print + Digital Magazine

Microcosm is a flagship, members-only magazine publication of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM).
The magazine is distributed to 40,000 members with the latest groundbreaking research in the microbial sciences.

Visualizing the beauty of science.

A rebrand of Microcosm magazine was initiated to create a clean, modern, and sophisticated look to enhance the brand. The key to the success of the rebrand was making sure the look/feel was consistent throughout the pages.

Stylescape

A Stylescape is a curated collection of images, textures, typography, and colors that communicate a certain look and feel. It defines the visual direction and gives you a crystal-clear picture of the deliverables ahead.

Before

After

2021 was the year when everything turned digital. ASM quickly pivoted its publication to both print and digital/web where we assisted with flexible graphics that could be applied as both print (PDF) and digital (banners and hero images).
